Can We Get New 1D Music Already?

One Direction may be in the middle of their worldwide Where We Are Tour, but they’re still somehow finding time to work on new music. In fact, according to band member Liam Payne, One Direction's new album is going to blow our minds! So what’s the deal with 1D’s next album, anyway? When can we expect to hear new music from the band? And what other musicians have they been working with? Those are big questions, but thankfully, we have some answers!

Let’s start with the easy stuff: What’s the deal with One Direction’s new album? They’re working on it right now, duh! But when can we expect to hear new music? Well, if the band continues to follow their release pattern, expect a lead single in either September or October, with the album coming in November.

Here’s where things get considerably more interesting: What other musicians have One Direction been working with? A lot. In addition to English pop rockers McFly, whom One Direction have collaborated with since their first album, they’ve also reportedly spent studio time with John Legend (of “All of Me” fame), Good Charlotte (of “Dance Floor Anthem” fame), indie rock band The 1975 (of “Chocolate” fame), singer-songwriter Emeli Sandé (of “Next to Me” fame), and producer Naughty Boy (of “La La La” fame). That's quite an impressive list.

But the big take away from all of this news? Band member Zayn Malik may be rapping on One Direction’s next album. That’s right, rapping. If Malik does indeed debut his skills on the band’s new album, be prepared for the Internet to EXPLODE. It will be both an incredible day and a terrible day to be a 1D fan. I can’t wait.

Back in March, Naughty Boy (real name: Shahid Khan) tweeted:

Two months later, the producer told British radio station Capital FM, “Zayn’s actually quite a good rapper, we’ve been in the studio doing some One Direction stuff, and he can spit bars!” He went on to describe the song they were working on as “amazing.”

Well, that just about covers it! You can always count on the guys from One Direction to deliver some seriously catchy pop anthems, and from what we know so far, it definitely seems like they’re going to do it again with their next album. Oh, and there might be some RAPPING. No big deal. This is gonna be good.
