Should They Get Back Together?

We were all afraid that this would happen and, according to TMZ, it finally has. Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were spotted together, looking cozy, loving, happy, together in Malibu on Monday night. The blurry video that accompanies the article features two people who do look remarkably like Bieber and Gomez, standing close together in a crowd of birthday party goers. In many ways, this is no surprise. After all, Justin Bieber posted a picture of Selena Gomez and himself with the caption "our love is eternal" before deleting it last week. Then Gomez posted a loving Instagram video that people immediately feared was a response to Bieber's deleted post. Even though Gomez has been trying to shut out negative influences and work on herself, is it possible that her Self is leading her right back own the Bieber path?

When Bieber and Gomez first began dating in 2010, it caused a mini feud among both of their fan bases. Bieber's fans were incredibly critical of Gomez, fearing that she wasn't good enough for their king and frequently criticizing her for not loving him as much as he loved her. Such insults put Selena's fans on the defensive and they began to claim that Bieber was the one who wasn't good enough for Gomez and that she could do better. Their breakup in 2013 quelled the arguments for a while, but, now that these rumors are flying about Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber rekindling their relationship, would the notoriously militant Beliebers and Selenators really approve of their fandoms blending again?

The Good

Fans of Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, affectionately known as "Jelena", seem to either like the couple on its own merits or just want nothing more than for one or both of them to be happy no matter what. These same fans are the one who seem exasperated by all the drama that one little video of Bieber and Gomez hanging out has brought.

The Bad

Fans of Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez staying as far away from one another as humanly possible seem to be treating this video like the be-all end-all of indications that the Jelena Apocalypse is nigh. Or crying because they weren't invited to the party, too. You know, as one does.

The Neutral

Then there are the fans who are just a) sick of all the other fans and b) sick of Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez yanking us all around like this. Confirm whether or not you're back together so we can react appropriately, you two. Celebrities are so insensitive.

The Verdict

Should Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez get back together? Personally, I'd like to see Selena Gomez stay as far away from Justin Bieber's trainwreck as she possibly can, but at the end of the day none of us get to dictate her life. Bieber and Gomez were together for three whole yeas, after all, and I suppose that kind of thing doesn't just go away because your ex-boyfriend hired a prostitute, vandalized a neighbor's house, made up racist songs when he was a tween, trashed a Wal-Mart... oh god, Selena, why?

The only thing we know for sure is that Gomez and Bieber were happy once. And that their fans are going to be fighting over who could do better until the end of time. And that they really do need to decide whether they are back together or not so we can all move on to speculating about something else and counting down the days until they break up a second time.
