What's Gonna Happen In Season 5?
It's a rough time of the year. Since Game of Thrones Season 4 just came to an end, we now have to wait a whopping 10 months for the next season. Fortunately, the Game of Thrones showrunners have some Season 5 hints. The operative words there are "some hints" — showrunners D. B. Weiss and David Benioff are otherwise remaining tight-lipped about what's to come. However, this glimpse into Season 5 should satiate some of us non book-readers for the time being, even though 10 months of GIFs, memes, and videos could potentially suffice.
But after that ending — Tyrion on the run, Tywin dead on the toilet, and Arya headed off to Braavos — what can we even expect? Well, something. We do know that they're going to start filming Season 5 in July — so hooray! Maybe we'll soon have behind-the-scene Instagram shots from the cast. Benioff and Weiss also hinted that Tyrion's headed East, which could mean that he makes all sorts of sorts of alliances.
Book readers (and people who look at maps of Westeros) know that East of Westeros across the narrow sea is Essos. So that's what we know: Tyrion will likely go to Essos. Since Tyrion's a friendly guy — albeit, now a two-time killer — it's likely he'll be able to make alliances and friends easily. Perhaps we'll get a new buddy comedy duo now that The Hound and Arya are no longer bantering like in characters in a Samuel Beckett play.
Either way, we know we'll be me seeing more Tyrion — which is definitely a relief — and we know that whatever's coming is going to be good. Just can it come a little faster? It's June, but you know what I'm going to say — it would be better if "winter was coming."
