An Eighth 'Song of Fire and Ice' Book?
Okay, I know you're probably not done with the books that are already out, but here's some news that you can either get super-excited about, or be like, HOLY WHAT ANOTHER TEN BILLION PAGES?: George R.R. Martin may write an eighth book in the Song of Fire and Ice series (you know, the one that turned into a little show called Game of Thrones).
According to The Guardian, Martin's editor, Anne Groell, said in a recent Q&A with fans that she encouraged the author to write more and more titles for the series, which ultimately led to seven books for Seven Kingdoms. "As I recently learned while editing The World of Ice and Fire (another awesome thing you must buy when it comes out!), there are really technically eight kingdoms, all having to do with who has annexed what when Aegon the Conqueror landed in Westeros," she said. "So, maybe eight books for Seven Kingdoms would be okay." Do we hear the sound of MS-DOS booting up in the background, Mr. Martin?
Not so fast, Martin's U.K. publisher, Jane Johnson, tells The Guardian. There are only seven books under contract, and Martin is really the keeper of just how many books the series will turn out to be — and he's keeping his beardy lips sealed.
I guess the only real answer is to wait and ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
