'Bachelorette' Guys Are Basically a Frat

by Martha Sorren

Usually Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants aren't there to make friends, and they like to announce that every few episodes or so. But this season, Andi Dorfman's group of guys are acting less like competitors and more like frat brothers. One episode, after hearing how much loud fun the guys are having on one group date, Andi even wonders out loud, "They do know they're here to date right?" Yes, they hopefully know that. But are they ready for marriage? Well, they'll have to get back to you on that one because they're probably in the middle of an intense game of beer pong or something equally frat-astic.

It's true that some beautiful friendships have blossomed out of the Bachelor(ette) mansion, like Andi Dorfman and Nikki Ferrell's BFF-dom which may or may not ruin Nikki's relationship with Juan Pablo. But usually it's just a couple of guys here and there that become buds, not the whole house.

It's still early in Andi's season, so maybe it's just the guys aren't invested enough yet to care that they're all dating the same girl. But whatever it is, right now this is one fratty group of guys and they're showing no signs of consciously unbro-ing.

THEY WERE PUMPED THAT DYLAN GOT THE ONE-ON-ONE

They clapped, they hugged, they shouted encouragement. "Have fun!" said one bro. "Go get 'em!" yelled another. It was like they were sending their fellow brother off on his first date with, rather than what it is which is sending a guy off to date the girl you are also dating.

THEY ALL CLIMBED INTO A TUB TOGETHER

At the start of Monday's episode, the guys charged into their new frat house, I mean, hotel and exclaimed "This is all ours!" before they all climbed into the bathtub together. I've never seen frat boys do that, but I've never seen Bachelorette contestants do that either, so something is definitely odd with this group of men.

THEY'RE EXTRA LOVEY DOVEY

Is this not the most cuddly batch of people you've ever seen? If they're not frat bros then is Andi really, really sure none of them are gay?

NICKNAMES ALL OVER THE PLACE

They call Brian "Coach" because he's a basketball coach and Marquel called Eric "E-Money," but that might have just been the alcohol talking.

THEY LOVE TO (POOL) PARTY

Craig was a disaster waiting to happen, but Nick S. was still ready to partay with his bro in the pool. And since reality TV pool parties never end well, Andi ended up sending them both packing. That was probably for the best since they seemed more into having fun with each other than getting to know the Bachelorette.

THEY CAN BE SEEN DRINKING LIKE FISH

Frats and alcohol usually go hand in hand, am I right? (P.S. upon rewatching this scene I noticed that Craig pours these shots and then tries to bring them to Andi. He really wants to have a good time. Or maybe he just wanted to get her drunk enough that she'd forget that he asked her "What's the worse thing about your parents?")

AND IN THE END BROS STICK TOGETHER

JJ wanted to confront Andrew about supposedly getting a waitresses number and then bragging about it. But first he grabbed Josh to help him out because bros stick together. Andrew is, like, so totally going to get his frat membership terminated, but the rest of the bros seem to be in it for each other until the end.
