Prince Oberyn is King of Instagram
We're beyond heartbroken that Prince Oberyn Martell of Dorne met such a heartbreaking — and, let's be real, TERRIFYING — end last night. For one thing, Oberyn had the swagger and libido of a pirate, and, despite his reasons for being in King's Landing in the first place, and his untimely demise, he brought a lightheartedness to the show that has been missing ever since Tyrion found himself imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit. For another, his relationship with — girlfriend? Wife? Partner? FWB? It's unclear — Ellaria Sand was one of the most fascinating, and healthiest, relationships the show's ever featured.
I don't know about the rest of you, but the real reason I'm going to be mourning the Dornish prince in the days to come is because I had developed a little (okay, mondo) crush on Pedro Pascal, the handsome and charming actor who brought Oberyn to life. Truth be told, though, my love for him was only partially fueled by his excellent performance on the show- the rest came about once I discovered his Instagram.
His countless selfies of himself hanging out with Lena "Cersei Lannister" Headey are so adorable that they have sparked rumors that the two may be an item. His feed is so full of photos of the fun had on the Game of Thrones set, it's almost enough to bleach your brain of what it was like to watch his death. Oh, and have I mentioned that he has an adorable godson named Bruno who he loves to brag about? Because he does, and it's precious.
Here are a few choice photos from Pascal's Instagram for your viewing pleasure, to tide you over until Pascal finds himself in yet another role that will charm your pants off!
