Sofia Chose A Great Time For Her Big News

In sad celebrity break up news, Sofia Vergara has split from her fiancé, Nick Loeb, to whom she had been engaged since 2012. In a classy and very PR-savvy move, Vergara broke the news herself on her Whosay account on Friday evening. Even the timing seemed deliberate — right before a holiday weekend and at a time when the media would be wholly consumed with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's wedding.

Vergara, who had yet to set a date for her wedding with Loeb, wrote:

Not that anyone should care, but in order to not give the press the chance to invent crazy and hurtful drama, I prefer to tell my fans personally that Nick and I have decided to be apart. We have been having too many problems with having to figure out how to spend time together and because of my work and now his, it's been getting worse and worse, not fun anymore. We are still very close but we believe this is the best thing for us right now.

It's sad to hear from a celebrity firsthand that things aren't working out, but at least she's acknowledging how heavily things can get blown out of proportion by the media when it comes to celeb breakups. This may be the reason why she chose to reveal the news at a time when people would have their attention fixated elsewhere. It seems she just wanted to do her fans the courtesy of letting them know that she's no longer with her fiancé without having the story distorted. It's proof that she's a pretty smart lady who knows how to handle her celebrity status.
