Skylar Astin Will Be Singing Again

Thank the acapella gods! Skylar Astin, the original love interest of Anna Kendrick's moody, movie-hating lead in Pitch Perfect will be back for the sequel. Hooray! Huzzah! Hallelujah! That means almost all of the original key players will be back, including: Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow and Adam DeVine, all slated to star in the sequel to 2012's smash musical hit. Elizabeth Banks will be back as well, this time making her directorial debut with the film. Some new faces, like Katey Sagal and True Grit's Hailee Steinfeld will aso appear in the flick.

In the first film, Astin played the dorky-but-lovable college recruit, who sang opposite Kendrick's Beca in the Treble Makers. The pair had a quippy off-and-on romance that ended with Beca singing an epic ballad that included fist pumps and Simple Minds' "Don't You (Forget About Me)". Details about the plot of the second film have yet to be released. From the film's IMDB page, this is all we know: "A sequel to the 2012 musical comedy that follows Fat Amy and Beca through their senior year at Barden University." Fat Amy y'all.

The second Pitch Perfect, simply titled Pitch Perfect 2, has a release date of May 15, 2015.
