Batfleck's Film Has An Official Title
To be honest, even before I found out that the Batman v Superman movie was actually technically called "the untitled Man of Steel sequel", I was already resigned to calling it Batman v Superman. However, the film's actual title is Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which kind of reduces it to being little more than a vehicle for the upcoming Justice League film. True though that may be, Batman and Superman are going to be in the same movie. And Wonder Woman will be there! That's considerably more than just a pit stop.
The announcement of the film's official title also came with an official logo for the movie, one that melds Batman's trademark symbol with Superman's over the title. The whole thing pretty much tells us everything we need to know about the movie just like the picture of Ben Affleck's Batman sulking next to the Batmobile did. Actually, it probably tells us more than the picture of Ben Affleck's Batman sulking next to the Batmobile did.
First of all, the blended symbols tell us that although Batman and Superman are understandably not going to get along at first due to differing aesthetics, eventually they are going to come together into one crime fighting whole. That much was obvious to even the most casual comic book fan, but it's still nice to have it reaffirmed in really awesome visual form.
Second of all, the title Dawn of Justice works on a lot of different levels. Batman grows about justice pretty much every other word while Superman is nothing if not the superhero representation of the sun rise lighting up the earth at the start of the new day. Dawn of Justice is a nice interplay on both of those images.
Besides, it hints perfectly at Batman and Superman's meeting being the start of the future Justice League. We might still not know anywhere near enough about the movie as we'd like to, but this is a step in the right direction. More details will come out between now and the film's May 6, 2016 release date, so this is enough for now. If nothing else, this image will make a good wallpaper for every comic book fan across the globe.
