Bey Didn't Seem Surprised by Solange's Outburst

In case you haven't spent your entire morning Tumblr-stalking Beyonce and Jay Z, TMZ unearthed footage from an elevator at a Met Gala after party in New York last week at the Standard Hotel, and the footage allegedly shows grainy black-and-white versions of Mr. and Mrs. Carter standing in an elevator, joined by Solange, who begins to attack Jay Z from the second she steps on. Beyonce steps away from the fight as security guards pull Solange away from Hov.

Although TMZ and Buzzfeed have labeled the incident "shocking" and "ferocious," I have to wonder if the incident was really as exciting as they proclaim. Beyonce looks as unfazed as a person can, barely moving while her sister kicks her husband. It's Beyonce's lack of involvement that I find surprising. It's shocking to me that Beyonce doesn't make any effort to get involved. She doesn't come between them, she doesn't put a hand up, nothing.

Is it because she's used to this sort of thing?

It's possible that in the relatively private lives of the Knowles-Carter family, there could be some ongoing bad blood between Solange and Jay Z, and that Beyonce has simply learned to live with it. Solange's behavior, because it was clearly inappropriate, but even if Solange has completely legitimate beef with Hov, how was it that Beyonce was simply sleep-standing up during their fight? Inquiring minds want to know.

A rep for Solange has yet to respond to Bustle's request for comment.
