At The 2014 Met Gala, SJP, Anna Kendrick, and More Make Black And White Dresses Pop
The Met Gala finally happened, and with it a host of celebrities channeling the venerable couturier Charles James. The designer's gorgeous, luxe aesthetic inspired a white tie theme for gents, and it appears that the Ball's female attendees have channeled the theme, causing an abundance of black and white styles on the carpet. Here are the best (and worst), black and white looks from the Met Ball.
Hailee Steinfeld in Prabal Gurung
The actress looks elegant beyond her years in a streamlined gown.
Jessica Pare in Michael Kors
The Mad Men actress glowed in a strapless, mermaid-style black and white gown.
Zoe Saldana in Michael Kors
Lesser mortals could never pull off the decidedly unconventional shape of Zoe Saldana’s gown, but she looks absolutely radiant.
Sandra Lee in Dara Lamb
There are few words that can accurately describe how outrageous Sandra Lee’s gown is. I’ve overdosed on fairytale couture from this dress alone.
Lauren Bush Lauren in Ralph Lauren
Lauren Bush Lauren channeled Caroline Bisset Kennedy and Gwyneth Paltrow circa 1996 in a white ruffled slip dress.
Anna Kendrick in Gilles Mendel
Anna Kendrick gave a whole new meaning to white tie dressing with her Gilles Mendel gown.
Katie Couric
Katie Couric’s strapless gown may not be adventurous, but it certainly makes the journalist look beautiful.
Giuliana Rancic in Zac Posen
Giuliana Rancic brings the ’20s back with her slinky Zac Posen gown.
Victoria Beckham
Posh cut a slim figure in a white column gown.
Kate Upton in Dolce and Gabba
Normally, Kate Upton has an eye for what looks stunning on her frame, but this overwhelming gown is simply too much.
