Catching up with the Cast of 'Mean Girls' 10 Years Later

It’s been a long road for the troubled actress, but 2014 is looking like things are turning up for the former party girl. Lohan spent most of the mid 2000s making headlines for getting into trouble. She starred in a handful of panned films and it was 2012’s Liz & Dick TV movie that put her back on everyone’s radar (for her acting.) Today Lohan is opening up publicly about her personal struggles with rehab, suffering through a miscarriage, and getting her life and career back together.

The meanest of the Mean Girls, McAdams made Regina George a household name in the worst (read:best) way. 2004 was a big year for McAdams as both Mean Girls and The Notebook were released, catapulting her into fame.

McAdams is a total A-Lister having starred in box office and critical hits like Wedding Crashers and Midnight in Paris. However, she’s also spent most of the past decade starring in cheesy rom-coms and halo-lit Nicholas Sparks adaptations. C’mon Rachel, where’s that signature Regina George aggression!?

Back in 2004, Fey was still a head writer on Saturday Night Live and manning the Weekend Update desk alongside BFF Amy Poehler. The two were the first female co-anchors in the show’s history.

Oh she’s just the most powerful woman in comedy nowadays. She and Poehler continue to break barriers with their Golden Globes hosting prowess and producing series that bring more women’s stories to the big and small screen. Fey’s comedic memoir Bossypants was a best-seller and she’s also starred in a plethora of films since leaving SNL in 2006. To put it lightly: Tina Fey is the funniest woman in America.

Everyone knew her as the angsty, young Ava on Party of Five.

Everyone still knows her as Ava from Party of Five …and Gretchen Weiners from Mean Girls. She’s the fetchest of them all! Not only has she appeared in oodles of films since Mean Girls, she also recently married the love of her life. You go, Lacey!

Prior to Mean Girls, Seyfried was working the soap opera circuit appearing on As the World Turns and All My Children.

Obviously she’s still adhering to the “Wednesday Rule.” She’s also starred in a few small projects called Mamma Mia, Les Miserables, and the upcoming A Million Ways to Die in the West. You know, nothing major.

Poehler was still fairly new to SNL in 2004 after having joined the show in 2001. Before that she was busy founding the Upright Citizens Brigade — one of the most famous schools of improv comedy in the world.

Comedian. Actress. Mother. Writer. Smart Girls Founder. Hero. The world is a better place for having Amy Poehler in it. Especially since she’s not like a regular mom, she’s a cool mom.

Caplan was just getting her career started when Mean Girls was released. She made a few television appearances, including the stellar Freaks and Geeks before filiming the now-classic comedy.

After thankfully ditching the perm and bleach, Caplan went on to go through a career rennaissance. She starred in the too-short-lived Party Down and is now the leading female actress in Showtime’s critically acclaimed Masters of Sex . And the Senior Superlative for “Most Transformed” goes to…

Leave it up to Daniel Franzese to steal the show from a pack of hugely talented stars. His character Damian not only had some of the films best lines, “Danny DeVito! I love your films!” he also had some of its most important fashion moments: the pink polo and matching plum prom tuxes.

He continues to appear on the big and little screen and has done a bit of voice work as well. He also recently came out in a touching letter that he wrote to Damian because Mean Girls meant just that much to him.

Oh Aaron Samuels, the groolest dreamboat of them all! He had all the makings of a perfect teen dream: those eyes, that hair, the perfect house for Halloween parties!

After taking a bit of a hiatus from acting, Bennett is back! He’s got six films coming out within the year. OKAY AARON SAMUELS!
