Chelsea Clinton Makes Huge Announcement

According to both her husband and her daughter, Hillary Clinton wants to be a grandmother more than anything else, even president. Well, she won’t have to wait much longer: Chelsea Clinton announced Thursday that she’s pregnant, and is due this fall. Hillary can rest easy.

"Marc [Mezvinsky] and I are very excited that we have our first child arriving later this year,” Chelsea said at an event in New York. “I certainly feel all the better whether it's a girl or a boy that they'll grow up in a world with so many strong female leaders.”

The announcement isn’t exactly a surprise. Chelsea said in an interview last year that starting a family was she and Mezvinsky’s highest priority, and that the two had decided to make 2014 the “Year of the Baby.” She added that her mom asked her about it “every single day.”

Likewise, in 2011, Bill Clinton said that he “would like to have a happy wife, and she won’t be unless she’s a grandmother.”

“It’s something she wants more than she wanted to be president,” the former president added.

Chelsea, who’s Vice Chair of the Clinton Foundation, also indicated on Wednesday that she’s open to running for political office.
