Donnie Wahlberg Put a Ring on It

So, THIS is exciting: Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg are engaged. You read every word of that sentence correctly — the former New Kid on The Block will wed the former Playboy model. Cue happy music.

We were psyched when the two started dating last year, since they're pretty much a perfect match. To recap: The two met on the set of McCarthy's former VH1 show, and they bonded over talking dirty (they both dig it) and then sparks started flying when they re-met on Watch What Happens Live. McCarthy, who had previously been married to John Mallory Asher for six years — from 1999 to 2005 — re-opened her heart to the idea of marriage when she fell for this former boy band member.

Hilariously enough, this almost did not happen, despite their initial meet-cute (is it a meet-cute if it's about raunchy stuff? Anyway.). McCarthy actually assumed Donnie was gay before they started to date. What was it? The former boy band allegiance? Or was she just not a New Kid On The Block fan? However, Wahlberg is, in fact, straight and was married from 1999 to 2008 to Kim Fey.

McCarthy has come along way since her Playboy days and those Candies ads (more importantly: do you remember Candies shoes?!?) — she's published books, waxed and waned over medical issues, co-hosted The View, and dated Jim Carrey.

No word yet whether Wahlberg's brother Mark has anything thoughts on this news, but we're pretty sure whatever he says, it'll be quotable, to say the least.
