This year, John Green fans had a very good reason to tune into the MTV Movie Awards. Even though the adaptation of The Fault In Our Stars won't be released until June, the film has already brought a lot of buzz to the awards, thanks to the reveal of an exclusive clip and stars Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, who presented an award together. Sure, the pair already co-starred in Divergent, but they played brother and sister, so it wasn't exactly a good test of the chemistry they'll need to portray the near-legendary couple Hazel and Augustus.
At the MTV Movie Awards, however, fans got the opportunity to watch just the two actors together as they introduced a performance by 21 Pilots, and it probably made them really, really thankful for that clip during the pre-show. Woodley and Elgort only had a few brief moments to introduce the band and barely interacted. What could've been a great preview of their upcoming on-screen relationship, you know, the one TFIOS is entirely based on, was instead just a few seconds of Woodley and Elgort standing next to each other while blandly reading a teleprompter.
Luckily, there's always next year for the pair to redeem themselves Between the TFIOS trailer and that brand new clip, they're a lock for next year's Best On-Screen Duo prize.
They might want to start working on their awards show skills.
