Don't Emulate The Accents In '22 Jump Street'

by Alanna Bennett

It's half expected that with a comedy like 22 Jump Street you're bound to spend half the running time cringing in your seat; with raunchy comedy, it's practically destined. And so it is with the impressions Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum do in this new 22 Jump Street clip.

This new clip takes them undercover as usual, and this time they seem to be setting up a sting against some sort of Hispanic drug ring — accents and all. Tatum's is the more obviously embarrassing of the two (just ask all the Dora the Explorer references), but both are pretty awful.

22 Jump Street comes out June 13, and follows Jenko (Tatum) and Schmidt (Hill) as they infiltrate a college to take on a crime ring ostensibly being run out of a fraternity. As for how the relationship between the partners has evolved, directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller have said that:

It’s more about their marriage, basically. If the first movie is about two people getting together for the first time, this is about what happens if you try to really make the relationship work. We’ll probably never do another bromance after this one, but we’re trying to get as emotionally deep into that as possible.

Before the emotional stuff, though, there is of course the terrible accents.
