Strict French Laws Can't Keep Them Apart

You know how Kanye West cancelled the Australian leg of his world tour April 1 to "finish his highly anticipated new studio album?" Well, apparently he really meant he needed to sneak off and live in Paris for 40 days and, yes, this has to do with the Kimye wedding. According to Radar Online, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's Paris wedding is facing some legal issues because French law requires at least one member of a couple reside in the country for 40 days before a marriage can take place.

And this isn't just some tabloid gobbledygook either, it's a real law. A document on the U.S. Department of State website reads,

At least one of the parties to be married must have resided in France for at least forty days immediately preceding the marriage. This precludes a wedding in cases where both parties are only visiting for a short stay.

I wish this meant that Kim and Kanye Take Paris was going to happen, but I think we all know Kimye has no intention of abiding by the "short stay" logic. If this report is true, then Kanye is stuck in Paris while Kim is shooting Keeping Up with the Kardashians in Thailand. I wonder if they argued about whether giving up KUWTK or the Yeezus tour made more sense. "But, Kanye, I have to film Kardashians, you can go on tour whenever you want. Plus, you know how snippy Seacrest gets." It looks like Kanye got the short end of the stick this time, but if the short end means staying in Paris, then that's really not too shabby.

A source told Radar that the law was news to the couple saying, "Kim and Kanye were unaware until recently that France required a residency requirement prior to the marriage. Kanye has an apartment in Paris, but he doesn’t live there full-time."

With the speculated date of the wedding being May 24, if Kanye really did start living in the apartment as soon as he cancelled his tour, this gives them just enough time. Man, this would make such great drama for KUWTK! Too bad Kanye doesn't like being filmed. I can picture it now, we see Kim being attacked by an elephant and annoyed at Kris Jenner when suddenly the show switches over to Kanye, trapped and alone in his (probably) giant and fabulous Paris apartment.
