Feast Your Eyes On This Movie, Foodies

It's fitting that Jon Favreau's latest endeavor Chef — a comedy about a disgraced celebrity chef who starts all over by opening a food truck business — debuted at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas last month. After all, Austin is a foodie (particularly food trucks) and independent movie (howdy, Alamo Drafthouse) haven. Now, we have our first Chef trailer, and guys, it does not disappoint. The film, which Favreau wrote and directed, in addition to starring in, features an impressive cast that includes Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Sofia Vergara, Dustin Hoffman, Bobby Cannavale, John Leguizamo, and Oliver Platt, among others.

While Chef may have hit all the SXSW marks (including impressive ensembles), it hits home even more if you're a food porn enthusiast. Heck, even the first trailer for the movie (which hit the web Monday) boasts critical raves like "Don't go on an empty stomach." That's good advice. (That grilled cheese sandwich in the preview looks especially mouth-watering.)

In fact, you should probably grab a snack before watching the Chef trailer, but you definitely should fill up on other food porn movies before seeing this flick. Among the must-see movies for foodies to consume: Chocolat, Julie & Julia, Babette's Feast, Eat Drink Man Woman, Waitress, Ratatouille, Tampopo, Like Water For Chocolate, and of course, the gold standard of food porn movies, Stanley Tucci's Big Night.
