Does 'Rogue One' Star Riz Ahmed Have A Bae?

It's been a breakout year for Riz Ahmed. The Golden Globe-nominated actor, who had viewers' hearts racing this summer on the HBO mini-series The Night Of, is now ready to take us to a galaxy far, far away in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. While fans are familiar with his professional work as an actor, rapper, and all-around cool guy, the multi-hyphenate's personal life is a mystery, which begs the question... is Riz Ahmed dating anyone?

WhosDatedWho.com claims the 34-year-old is "possibly single," which means there could still a chance for you Star Wars fans to get a hold of him. But aside from that, there isn't much solid information available about Ahmed's love life available. He seems to keep his private life out of the spotlight, and hasn't been spotted with a significant other. But, he is very active in his career, so what's he been up to?

Acting

During an interview with The Guardian in April 2013, writer Simon Hattenstone suggested Ahmed simply has no time to focus on dating while he was trying to make a name for himself: "As for his private life, you sense that it is on hold at the moment — no girlfriend, lives with his brother in south London, forever working."

But check out all he's been able to accomplish while flying solo. A year after sitting down with The Guardian, Ahmed garnered high praise for his portrayal of Jake Gyllenhaal's assistant, Rick, in the thriller Nightcrawler. In July 2016, Ahmed had a starring role as tech mogul Aaron Kalloor in the film Jason Bourne opposite Matt Damon and a lead role as Nasir Khan in The Night Of. While it may appear that Ahmed is enjoying his success alone and dodging relationship questions left and right, the rising star can't keep all his secrets to himself. Ahmed told Alistair Foster of the Evening Standard he couldn't resist telling one lucky lady that he won the role of Bodhi Rook in Rogue One.

“To be honest I felt like I had to tell someone, so I thought the safest option would be to tell someone very close to me, who wouldn’t say anything," he said, "So that was my mum."

Rapping

When he isn't on the big screen, Riz-MC showcases his rapping skills in the hip-hop duo Swet Shop Boys. The group's first studio album, Cashmere, was released in October 2016 and peaked at 45 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Album chart. In an interview with Emily Zemler from Esquire , Ahmed said although it seems like he has tons of projects piling up, his accomplishments have been years in the making.

"I know from the outside it looks like I'm doing everything at the same time. But we have a saying in the U.K.: 'You wait an hour for a London bus and then three of them come all at once.' It's kind of like that."

With Rogue One set to take over the box office, Ahmed's star is only set to burn brighter. A relationship can wait... for now.
