I usually try to avoid spoilers, because I'm not a monster, but this one is unavoidable: apparently Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna stay together for at least a little while longer, because Rob & Chyna has been renewed for Season 2. Sorry if that ruins stuff for you, because I know they haven't gotten to that part yet in the series. But you were going to find out eventually, so it might as well be from me. A second season can only mean one thing, though: more Dream Kardashian than ever before.
Even though there were moments this year when it seemed like the new parents had broken up — in March, July, and September, for example — you can't have a Rob & Chyna without Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna. E! apparently has enough faith in the couple's longevity that producers are giving the docu-series eight more episodes.
It might also have something to do with the show's ratings, which The Hollywood Reporter points out were significant. The year isn't quite over yet, but, at the time of this writing, Rob & Chyna 's season premiere was the highest-viewed unscripted premiere of 2016 "in key network demos including adults 18-34 and and women 18-49." And, while these achievements are impressive, they're not shocking. The network already has such a stable foundation in the form of Keeping Up With the Kardashians and all of its spinoffs that Rob & Chyna are really just building off that popularity.
As E! executive Jeff Olde noted in the announcement of the renewal:
Rob and Chyna’s romance struck such a chord with our viewers, who were engaged in their story even before we started filming the first season. We are excited to share the next chapter of their story.
Basically, they had us at "Kardashian." While it would be great if the parents to the one-month-old baby Dream find a way to keep making it work, E! knows they have fans' attention either way. The show's second season will premiere in 2017, and, whether it includes a breakup or a marriage or a second baby, I know these two won't shy away from sharing it onscreen. I'll be there, ready to watch it all unfold.
