Everyone is talking about the arrival of Snapchat Groups, which allows you to spam your friends all at once instead of individually, but Tuesday's Snapchat update comes with two other features you may not have heard as much buzz about: Scissors and Paintbrush. The latter is fairly self-explanatory — it lets you "paint" on your Memories — but how do you use Scissors in Snapchat? Instead of finding the nearest teenager who looks like they know what they're doing and demanding answers, consider this your guide to the new feature.

If you're the type to adorn your Snaps with as many stickers as you can squeeze into the frame, prepare to have your mind blown. In a blog post, Snap, Inc., wrote that Scissors can be used to "cut out part of a Snap on the Preview Screen to turn it into a sticker." So if you want to branch out from the app's default stickers, the update lets you create your own by outlining part of your Snap. It even saves the new sticker automatically, so you can use your masterful creations as much as you want. According to Mashable, Snapchat's update is already available on iOS and will roll out to Android soon.

Interested yet? Here's a step-by-step guide to using Scissors to create your own stickers.

1. Check For The Update

First, head to the iTunes App Store or Google Play Store to check for the newest version of Snapchat. The current update is version 9.45.0.0; if you don't have it, download it.

2. Take A Photo

Once you know you have the latest version, take a Snap like normal. Tap the scissors icon in the center of the top of the screen, which should turn the screen grayish.

3. Cut Out Your Sticker

Once you've chosen what you want to turn into a sticker, outline it with your finger. The new sticker should pop up automatically when you lift your finger. (My beloved coffee mug says hello, by the way.)

4. Place The Sticker

Now that you have your sticker, all that's left is to place it somewhere and send your masterpiece like usual. Like the default options, you can resize and move it around however you want, and it's saved automatically. The new sticker can be found with the rest of your stickers; just pull up the main stickers page and tap on the scissors icon at the bottom of the screen. To delete a sticker, press and hold it, then drag it to the trash can that appears at the top of the screen.

Easy enough, right? Now get out there and impress all your friends with your Snapchat expertise before they figure it out for themselves.
