Live television forces us to forgo our streaming ways and experience something together at the same time. However, not everyone can accommodate that kind of schedule. Can you re-watch Hairspray Live! or catch it after it airs? There are a few ways to stream the show following the Wednesday live performance if you are unable to watch or DVR it. There is already a place for Hairspray Live! on Hulu, with a few behind the scenes clips and sneak peeks already posted.
It should be available to stream as early as Thursday morning. It's also likely that the show will be posted on NBC's website and full episode app. I would also check your cable network's OnDemand menu on Thursday. With so many streaming applications, we tend to forget that OnDemand still exists. Later on, the musical will be sold on DVD. It's not being re-broadcast any time soon on NBC, though previous live musicals have been rebroadcast in the past. If you want to re-watch Hairspray Live! immediately, or catch it after its initial air time, Hulu is definitely your best bet.
If all else fails, there are sure to be clips, memes, and reactions on social media that can attempt to recreate the live experience. You can also buy the soundtrack on Amazon, iTunes, and Google Play — or listen to it on Spotify.
If you can watch it live, I encourage you to do so. Sometimes, watching a live performance of a Broadway show or even a concert after the fact can feel a little weird. Being part of the live audience is half the fun. Still, if you can't make it happen or just can't wait to go back to Baltimore and hear the bells again for Round 2, Hairspray Live! will not be hard to find.
