'Happy Endings' Star Adam Pally Books 'Mindy Project' Role. Where Should The Rest of the Cast Go?
It will be hard to accept Adam Pally as anyone other than grubby gay man Max from Happy Endings. But it's time to be as optimistic as an optimistic red velvet walrus when it comes to the dearly departed ABC crew. After all, Pally has scored a multi-episode arc on The Mindy Project, playing a fellow doctor to Mindy Kaling's titular character. With this news — and the news that Damon Wayans Jr., has locked in an arc (and possibly more) on New Girl — we can't help but wonder about Happy Endings other Chicagoans. Where would they go if we had our druthers? Read on to find out!
Zachary Knighton
Where We Want Him to Go: Grey's Anatomy
After all, he's already done drama — in scrubs, besides. The Happy Endings actor previously played a surgical intern in the short-lived but buzzed-about FlashForward. But since he's been able to show off his comedy chops on the ABC series, why not allow him to provide some comic relief by playing one of Grey's crop of puppy-eyed interns?
Eliza Coupe
Where We Want Her to Go: Cougar Town or It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Really, if the TV gods made us boss, we'd put the stunning and stunningly funny Coupe in every project on television. But, since she's an alum of Bill Lawrence's Scrubs, a good start would TV's other fan favorite from the showrunner, TBS's Cougar Town. Perhaps she could play responsible sister to Busy Philipps' flighty Laurie — and if she takes after Jane, here's guessing she could actually glass blow a friend for Big Carl herself. And if that doesn't work out, the Sunny crew over on FX would certainly appreciate some run ham from scratch from Dennis and Dee's long-lost sister.
Elisha Cuthbert
Where We Want Her to Go: Nashville
Yes, Cuthbert has a terrible track record when it comes to drama. (Admittedly, it's been difficult reconciling our love for Alex Kerkovich with our hate for 24's Kim Bauer.) But Happy Endings has more than made up for Cuthbert's misfires, so it's time we gave her another shot, preferably as another blonde foil for Rayna and Juliette.
Casey Wilson
Where We Want Her to Go: 2 Broke Girls
If there's anyone on television who loves talking about her lady bits more than Max and Caroline, it's Penny. We'd say Wilson deserves much better than the trite CBS sitcom, but, then again, she did write Bride Wars.
