R.L. Stine Is Releasing A Picture Book!

by K.W. Colyard

So it turns out that 2016 isn't all bad. Sure, plenty of people are dead and someone put George Orwell in charge of writing the plotline, but two of your favorite kidlit authors are teaming up to write a book, so everything isn't terrible, right?

Best known for their respective Goosebumps and Arthur series, R.L. Stine and Marc Brown are putting their heads together once again to create a fun and creepy picture book. Mary McScary centers on a little girl who loves to frighten her friends and neighbors, but who must prepare for her biggest challenge yet when her un-scareable cousin, Harry, comes to visit.

This isn't the first collaboration for Stine and Brown. In 2015, the duo put out their first picture book, The Little Shop of Monsters . That title was the result of a years-long friendship, which began aboard Air Force One in 2003, after the two writers "accepted then First Lady Laura Bush’s invitation to represent America at the first Russian Children’s Book Festival." The Little Shop of Monsters was Stine's first-ever picture book.

Scholastic has slated Mary McScary for release in September 2017, just in time for book fairs everywhere.
