Would You Spend $25,000 to Look Like Her?

Let's be clear about something: it is very possible to take Jennifer Lawrence devotion too far. We know, we know... she's just so damn perfect and you want to be best friends with her. She's down to earth and likes to eat food, just like you! But stick to stalking her on Twitter and copying her fashion sense like the rest of us. Please do not spend $25,000 on plastic surgery to look like Jennifer Lawrence, because that is insane.

Kitty, a 30-year-old dog trainer from Houston, Texas, underwent six dramatic procedures to look more like the Academy Award-winning actress. According to ABC Nightline, the procedures included breast augmentation, liposuction on her face and body, rhinoplasty, and fat grafts to fill out her cheeks and buttocks. She was in surgery for about six hours, with a four-week recovery period. The final cost, with discounts for agreeing to appear on on Nightline, came to $25,000.

All of that just to look slightly more like J. Law? Kitty claims in her Nightline interview that she was often compared to Jennifer Lawrence before the procedures. She views the surgery as a form of self-empowerment, and defends her decision by saying “I’m not trying to look like Pamela Anderson here during her ‘Baywatch’ days. I’m trying to look like a very capable, very personal level-headed female who is an Academy Award winner,” she explained. In the end, Kitty was happy with the results of the surgery.

“Of course I look like Jennifer Lawrence,” she said. “I thought I had a resemblance to Jennifer Lawrence before my surgery and now I think after, my features are more refined to where they resemble her more.”

I've heard of women getting plastic surgery to resemble celebrities before, but the practice never ceases to disturb me. To each her own, of course, but I think that learning to love yourself is a hell of a lot more important than trying to carve your face to resemble a popular celebrity. Ultimately, as the ABC reporter states at the end of the video, "true beauty is more than skin deep."
