Ben & Lauren Gave Back, 'Bach' Style

by Lindsay Denninger

Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell may have called off their engagement on Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After , but that doesn’t mean this twosome has gone their separate ways. Instead, they’re taking some time to build a beautiful foundation for their relationship, and while they’re doing that, they decided to spend the one-year anniversary of Ben’s proposal to Lauren by giving back to a woman in their Denver community that totally deserves it.

Lauren posted a call for responses on her blog to see if locals knew anyone in the Denver area who was deserving of Ben and Lauren’s version of Extreme Home Makeover. Ranya and Byron fit the bill — they go above and beyond the call of duty for returning veterans and current members of the army, all while pushing their own needs to the side. They provide support, financial and otherwise, and don’t take a minute for themselves. Because of that, Ranya and Byron’s home was perpetually under construction — they didn’t have the time to fix their own house because they were helping other people! Sponsored by Secret, Ben and Lauren put Ranya and Byron’s home back together and even built Ranya a greenhouse — her secret passion project to feed more members of the community.

It was a really sweet thing for Ben and Lauren to do, to celebrate someone else on their own anniversary. Ben is a big proponent of charity work, and he said that he’s always wanted a partner that would help him with projects like this one. I think it’s safe to say that he found that in Lauren — the two of them, with the help of the Ferguson twins and some other pals — handily put this house back together again, and for two very deserving locals.
