Here's Why There Seem To Be More Yellow Skittles

In this life we are confronted with many questions: Are humans inherently good, or is goodness a construct? What happens after we die? Are things destined, or do we truly have free will? And, perhaps most importantly: why are there so many yellow Skittles compared to the other flavors in a pack?

While all flavors of Skittles are indisputably delicious, yellow included, the yellow Skittle phenomenon is one that has been much discussed on this here internet. A Skittles connoisseur might argue that the yellow is just brighter than the other colors and, in that regard, more distinctive, making it appear to be more prevalent in a bag. But it's gotten to the point where redditors on /dataisbeautiful have gone so far as to analyze the number of Skittle colors in a random party bag and take the mystery into their own hands — but alas, the answer to this particular hard-hitting question might be much simpler than we think.

But first, an examination of Point A, which is a random party pack of Skittles one redditor posted in its fully-organized glory. (Side note: is this not the most soothing thing you have seen all week?) (Double side note: I am super hungry for some Skittles right now.)

And now, point B: some glorious footage from a factory where your #blessed Skittles are made. First off, it is basically like watching candy Christmas, and it is a miracle I got any of my job done today fighting the urge to watch it over and over and over again. And curiously, when you see all the Skittles en masse sliding down the majestic Skittles slide, there seem to be an even number of yellow Skittles compared to the rest.

But watch closely, and you'll see that in the separate color slides, ever-so-occasionally, a little yellow Skittle slips on through.

Reddit has a few theories for why this might be happening, but the clear answer is that yellow Skittles are excited to be alive and just can't help but try to join the other Skittles' parties. So here's three cheers to the underdog yellow Skittle, who is delicious, and clearly has more will to exist than the other flavors — so there. May we all aspire to be as bold and as ambitious as the yellow Skittle has been.

In the meantime, if anybody is looking for me, I am watching that video 86,000 times and must not be disturbed.
