If you haven't heard the news just yet, Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna reportedly welcomed their first child, a baby girl, on Thursday at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Bustle has reached out to their reps for comment, but did not receive an immediate response. So, what did they name her? According to E! News, they named their daughter Dream Renee Kardashian, though that remains unconfirmed at the moment. Whatever the case, why might Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna name their baby Dream Renee, if that is the case? Update: Kardashian's mother, Kris Jenner, confirmed the news to E!, and said, "I got to watch [the] delivery. It was so beautiful and I'm so excited and happy to have another grandchild! No. 6!" She continued, "It was one of the most precious moments of my life."
Earlier: If you're surprised that they didn't choose a "K" name, don't be. In October, Chyna revealed the baby wouldn't have a "K" name in an August profile with Elle.com. "No," she said after being asked if they would follow in the footsteps of the Kardashians and Jenners. "The baby won't have a K name. We both agreed."
Clearly, they settled on Dream, which is a far cry from any of the "K" names in the family. It's nice to see something different, too. Dream will certainly stand out with her name alone. Really, there could be a number of reasons why they reportedly chose that name, but it probably has something to do with that she is their dream come true, she looks like something from a dream, or they wanted something that was both somewhat magical and unique. As a source told E! News, "She is gorgeous and has tons of hair!" She sure sounds like a dream, right?
As for Renee, well, that has some family significance. It is Chyna's middle name, E! News revealed. It makes sense that Kardashian and Chyna would want to pass down her family name, as well, since the baby's last name is Kardashian. It definitely flows nicely with Dream and gives the name both of a modern and traditional spin.
There were previous reports that Kardashian and Chyna wanted to name their baby after his father, Robert Kardashian Sr. In May, E! News reported the couple thought about using Robert or Rob for a boy and Robbie for a girl. Obviously, they seemingly didn't go in that direction.
The two have remained quite tight-lipped about what they would name their daughter and probably because they wanted it to be a nice surprise for everyone. Well, it certainly is and now all fans have to do is wait for Dream's first official baby picture.
