When it became clear that the next president of the United States was going to be Donald Trump, there was a deafening gasp across not just the country, but the world. Even those who don’t call the United States home share in our fear and anxiety of what a Trump presidency will look like.
Many of us have cried (I’ve been crying for almost 48 hours straight), many of us are angry, and many of us have threatened to leave the country. There is no wrong way to grieve in regards to the results of this long, painful, and eye-opening election season. Protests aren’t just about standing up against what you believe is wrong, but they provide a sense of solidarity. As you either march down the streets in your city or sit quietly in protest, you’re not alone. You realize that the pain you feel is one that many of us share. This win has been a devastating blow for many of us, and as we watch to see what Trump promises to do in his first 100 days in office, the blow turns into a knife that cuts deep.
