Is there going to be another Kimye baby soon? Based on a new Keeping Up With the Kardashians clip from Sunday, Nov. 13's episode, there's a chance. In the preview, Kim Kardashian says she wants to explore surrogacy for a potential third child with her husband Kanye West. "I've come to the conclusion that I just want to explore surrogacy," she says in the video shared below. Kris Jenner's facial expression says it all, because Kardashian's declaration is somewhat surprising.
In the past, the reality star has had changing opinions when it comes to whether she wants more kids. In a June interview with People, she said, "After [Saint was born], I said to my husband, 'Remind me of this moment! Never again.'" It's also no secret that she hated being pregnant. In an October 2015 blog post on her official website before Saint West was born, the 35-year-old reality star wrote, "I'm gonna keep it real: For me, pregnancy is the worst experience of my life! LOL! I don't enjoy one moment of it and I don't understand people who enjoy it." Of course, she loves her daughter, North, and her son, but she didn't enjoy the overall pregnancy experience. She added in her 2015 blog, "Really, it is all SO worth it when you have your precious baby in the end! So for all my complaining, it's 100 percent worth it and more!!!"
But just because Kardashian hated being pregnant doesn't mean there aren't other options for her to have another child. Plus, as she also told People in June, "After about four months, I was like, I can breathe again. I can maybe have another one." She continued, "I could definitely have one more."
Furthermore, West seems to be ready for a third baby. In the April series finale of Khloé Kardashian's show Kocktails With Khloé featuring Kardashian, West, John Legend, and Chrissy Teigen, Kardashian dished, "I was so set with my two kids and happy with my life the way that it is, but Kanye has been mentioning it every single day lately for the past 10 days. I was like, 'Why is he doing this to me?'"
Even though it's been brought up in conversation, Kardashian also recognized in the episode that having another child herself would have to be given a lot of thought due to the health risks. "It would be a really dangerous environment for me if I were to get pregnant again." The Selfish author said later on, "It might be a little hard on me, on my body."
For those unaware, she faced risks with both of her pregnancies. When she was pregnant with Saint, she wrote a blog post on her website about high-risk pregnancy and revealed, "Last pregnancy [with North], I had a condition called preeclampsia, which is a serious condition you can get during pregnancy; often, the only way to get rid of it is to deliver early to protect yourself and the baby." Kardashian added, "Only about 5 percent of woman get this. Lucky me! It causes your body and face to swell, and that was very uncomfortable for me. I had early-onset preeclampsia and I had to deliver at 34 weeks, almost six weeks early."
Due to the preeclampsia she had while pregnant with North and then also having placenta accreta ("a high-risk condition that occurs during pregnancy when the placenta grows too deeply into the uterine wall," as Kardashian explained on her site) those same issues were increased while she was pregnant with Saint. So surrogacy could actually make a lot of sense for Kardashian and she is someone who likes to explore all options. Remember when she froze her eggs in a February 2012 KUWTK episode? This was before she was pregnant with North, so it's not surprising that Kardashian would be looking into surrogacy.
And in that same Kocktails With Khloé episode, her younger sister asked if she wanted to have a surrogate. Per Kardashian, "Khloé's offered, Kourtney's offered, and Chrissy's even offered," to be her surrogate. Yeah, she definitely has options if it ever comes to that, especially if they are all really serious about helping Kimye have another child.
All of that said, fans shouldn't get too excited just yet for another Kimye baby. Not only may have Kardashian have changed her mind (or may change her mind about surrogacy in that very same episode), it's important to remember that Kardashian has been through a lot recently — the KUWTK episode was filmed before she was robbed at gunpoint in October. There's a chance that her mind has totally shifted from surrogacy to ensuring she is living a healthy life. As her mom told E! News in October about Kardashian's status post-robbery, "It's a process. One day at a time. It's just a process. What can I say?" Jenner added, "She's home and that's all that matters. She wants to be with her kids and family. It's just family first."
Wherever Kardashian's head is at regarding surrogacy, it's clear that she likes to keep her options open when it comes to her body and being a mom.
