Why Don't You Love Sam Smith Yet?

by Kelsea Stahler

Saturday Night Live has been getting braver with its musical guest schedule this season and we couldn't be more thrilled. In late 2013, the NBC sketch series showed the world the wonder of HAIM before introducing us to the virtually unknown Frightened-Rabbit-walking-on-sunshine ensemble Bastille a few weeks later. Now, the comedy program is giving singer Sam Smith — who's well on his way to becoming a household name in music in 2014 — that same consideration. And if you haven't yet heard the incredible, soulful, syrupy vocals of this SNL performer, you're about to be in for a treat.

Rather than following the rest of America and discovering this talented man when SNL delivers his live performance, why not join us over here, ahead of the curve, with some essential listening? Smith has already been making waves in the music industry, singing the vocals for Disclosure on their mega hit "Latch" and working with Disclosure, Nile Rodgers, and Jimmy Napes for the excellent and incredibly funky "Together."

Essentially, if you didn't know Smith before today, your life has just changed for the better. Strap on those headphones, settle in, and listen, because you're about to become Smith's biggest fan. You're welcome.
