'Good Wife' Spinoff To Be Called 'The Good Fight'
Fans of The Good Wife, I know it's been tough on y'all since your suspenseful favorite show ended in May 2016. Heck, it's been tough on us all. But never fear, redemption is coming your way with CBS' new digital spinoff of the show, The Good Fight. The series has just started production and will be coming to whatever box you use to stream content in February 2017. The first episode will debut on CBS before the show moves exclusively to the network’s streaming service CBS All Access.
While sadly not all of the characters from The Good Wife will be returning, Christine Baranski, Cush Jumbo, and Sarah Steele will star as their Good Wife characters Diane Lockhart, Lucca Quinn, and Marissa Gold respectively. There's also going to be exciting new characters added to the mix which include Delroy Lindo, Paul Guilfoyle, Bernadette Peters, and Erica Tazel. Rose Leslie, who plays Jon Snow's love interest, Ygritte on Game of Thrones will have a starring role in the series, as Lockhart's goddaughter.
The show picks up a year after the final episode of The Good Wife. In the new series, Leslie's character, Maia has been outed for a massive financial scam that destroyed her reputation and all of Diane's savings. After the two are forced out of Lockhart & Lee, they join Lucca Quinn at a Chicago law firm.
It seems like if you love The Good Wife you might just love this new spinoff almost as much. The original series creators Robert and Michelle King return as showrunners and executive producers for The Good Fight while longtime director on the series Brooke Kennedy will be directing the first episode.
I think my main question is, will Leslie's character have her traditional Scottish accent or will she go American? I'm hopeful Diane's got a Scottish mentee, but I could get down with some American-accent Leslie just the same. This and more questions will surely be answered soon. Until then, I'll be binge-watching the original series.
