Talk Yiddish To Me

Postmodern Jukebox has made quite a name for themselves with their unique, sultry, and soulful remakes on modern pop song chart toppers. They've covered everything and everyone from Beyonce to Guns N Roses to Katy Perry to Ke$ha (dollar sign? y/n) and they always manage to make their versions not only sound utterly amazing, but it somehow ends up being catchier and more compelling than the original. This time is no different. In fact, they may have done our favorite cover to date.

With a slightly more Hebraic edge, Postmodern Jukebox has decided to take this one completely into their own hands. Lead singer Robyn Adele Anderson took the liberty of translating the lyrics into Yiddish herself and turned the once electronic-heavy pop song into a sure to be bar mitzvah fave. If you aren't familiar with this kind of music, the song is modeled after the klezmer, a style of Jewish folk music (Fiddler on the Roof, anyone?). It's a style that's traditionally a fun one. Performed and played at celebrations, the klezmer was made to get people on their feet and grooving. Well, we can attest and say that it's served its purpose, because we can not stop jamming out at our desks.
