11 Movies To Watch If You Love 'Practical Magic'
For those of us out there who don't love to be scared to death by ax murderers and evil children and Satan and crazy people sewing other people's body parts together and stuff, the sweet and playful Halloween movies out there have always been a salve. It's not like we don't love Halloween, after all, it's just that we also love getting a good night's sleep and dreaming of people we have crushes on instead of all the many terrible ways there are to die. For people like myself, there are movies like Practical Magic .
Practical Magic is one of the all-time greats of Halloween and romance movies. Just like how Bridget Jones is a romantic comedy but also a surprisingly perfect Christmas movie, Practical Magic is such a success because it stays true to the spirit of both romance and Halloween while being completely watchable and fun no matter what time of year you decide to revisit it. Whether your favorite element of the movie is the sisterly bond between Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock's characters, the swooning romance, the iconic late-'90s vibe, or the charming witchiness, I've put together a list of other great films to watch if you love Practical Magic.
1. Bewitched
Kidman plays another witch in this movie, which also stars Will Ferrell and does not get enough love. It takes on the classic premise of the TV show but updates it so that Ferrell and Kidman's characters are actors playing roles in a new version of Bewitched, but he's an actor and she's an actual witch. It's really cute, I promise.
2. Hocus Pocus
If you love iconic celebrities witching themselves up, you will love Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker in Hocus Pocus. Any witch-themed movie night would be incomplete without it.
3. Divine Secrets Of The Ya-Ya Sisterhood
If you need more scenes of Sandra Bullock in dimly lit rooms with lots of candles, look no further than the heartwarming ensemble dramady Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood.
4. I Married A Witch
Surely one of the films that inspired Practical Magic, I Married a Witch features Veronica Lake in an irresistible turn as a witch with something to prove who takes the magic of love into her own hands.

5. The Nightmare Before Christmas
This one is a little kookier, and, yes, it is animated and boasts a large presence in your local mall's Hot Topic, but the romance between Jack and Sally really is super romantic, and they have to overcome tons of obstacles to finally fulfill their love.
Stream A Nightmare Before Christmas here.
6. The Witches Of Eastwick
Cher, Susan Sarandon, and Michelle Pfeiffer are witches. That is literally all you need to know. Go watch this movie.
Stream The Witches of Eastwick here.
7. The Lake House
No witches here, but like in Practical Magic, we see Sandra Bullock dabbling in the romantic and the supernatural as she falls in love with Keanu Reeves, who is living in the same house as her but two years apart. Swoon. (Also, remember when that hairstyle was everywhere?)
8. Ghost
Another great romance, but this time the paranormal element isn't witches but ghosts: specifically, the ghost of Patrick Swayze. Yes, please.
9. Teen Witch
There are spells, there's romance, and there is so much awesome '80s fashion you won't know what to do.
10. Edward Scissorhands
Practical Magic's beloved Aunt Jet actor Dianne Wiest also has a starring role in Tim Burton's oddball dark fantasy romance Edward Scissorhands, as the warm and welcoming suburban mother who takes Edward under her wing and embraces him for who he is.

11. Twitches
If you can't get enough stories about sisters who are witches, Tia and Tamara Mowry will always be here for you.
All of these movies will more than get you in the spirit of the holidays—and probably in the spirit of a little romance.
