It’s fairly standard on a show where people get judged that one or two contestants are going to go back and disagree with the judges. We’re all human, after all — if you’re a contestant on Dancing With The Stars and you’re working insane hours to bring the best dance possible and one of the judges says you’re crap, well, you’re going to have something to say about it. That happened to Jana Kramer and Gleb Savchenko on Dancing With The Stars, but this time, the judge bit back. Len Goodman yelled at Gleb Savchenko and Jana Kramer on Dancing With The Stars , and boy, was it uncomfortable for everyone involved.
Savchenko and Kramer did a 1960s-themed samba for “eras” week, and Goodman, who is always the stickler for the rules of the dance at hand — he doesn’t like lifts, props, or general fooling around — told Kramer and Savchenko in his assessment that they just didn’t include enough samba elements in the choreography. According to Goodman, it was too much theater and not enough dance. Well, Savchenko didn’t agree, and told Goodman so, and Goodman, being the elder statesman in this situation, went right back at him. He basically told him to cut the crap, and wow, was everyone on stage uncomfortable. Twitter had some things to say about it, too.
I don’t know that Goodman was wrong in his critique. He gave his assessment of the dance. Goodman has been dancing for longer than most of the people — actually, nearly all of the people — on the show have been alive. He knows his stuff, okay? It’s literally his job to know it. To argue with him is futile, and Savchenko should have known that. I’m sure these guys will kiss and make up, but let’s avoid these arguments in the future, shall we?
