Will Idris Elba Be Kicking Dinosaur Butt?

Idris Elba is a wonder. He looks like high-end cologne smells, he dazzles duchesses, he photobombs Oprah's selfies. Sadly, though, Idris Elba will not be in Jurassic World kicking dinosaur butt. Jurassic World is set for a 2015 release and currently already stars Parks and Rec and Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt, as well as Bryce Dallas-Howard, Vincent D'Onofrio, and BD Wong. But it will not star Elba.

It's one of the biggest bummers of a rumor-quashing in recent memory — seriously, picture Idris Elba, possibly in some sort of park ranger and/or military getup, cracking quips as he rides a T-Rex. That's tantalizing stuff, and now we as a world are deprived of it. It is a tragic day.

Still, it stings slightly less to know that Jurassic World's director, Safety Not Guaranteed 's Colin Trevorrow, feels the loss just as much as we do. As he tweeted in his official debunking of the rumor, "I love this rumor as much as the next guy, but Idris Elba won't be joining us. The dinosaurs wouldn't stand a chance."

Take note, Hollywood: This is the correct kind of grief to show every time Idris Elba is not in your movie. Now someone make me some fanart of him interacting with some dinosaurs.
