In a Wednesday tweet, The Bachelor executive producer Elan Gale announced his funny self-help book, You're Not That Great (But Neither Is Anyone Else). Grand Central acquired Gale's book, which the publisher says will "show readers how to harness their own innate self-loathing in order to succeed." You're Not That Great (But Neither Is Anyone Else) is currently slated for release late in 2017.
In addition to producing The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, and all derivative series therein, Gale manages two popular Instagram accounts, @textsfromyourex and @tindernightmares, both of which spawned books of their own in the last quarter of 2015.
Bachelor fans know that Gale's sense of humor runs a little ... askew. In 2013, the executive producer live-tweeted his feud with a fellow airplane passenger named Diane. The exchange captured the Internet's attention, but Gale later revealed that he had made the whole thing up, saying he hoped "a few people got a few laughs over a slow Thanksgiving weekend." Not everyone found the revelation of Gale's hoax to be funny, however, and at least one follower accused him of concocting "a BS PR scam of the highest order" with his tweetstorm.
In April 2014, Gale went on a Twitter meltdown, after learning that his ex-girlfriend, Lauren, was engaged to marry the man she had cheated on him with. According to Gale, he discovered Lauren's infidelity when she posted a Yelp review of a date they did not go on. He posted screenshots of angry texts from Lauren, and informed followers that she had contacted his lawyer. It's unclear whether this incident was hoax or reality, but "IT IS THE WORLD AND IT IS LAUREN WHO ARE CRAZY TEXT THEM" is a mantra to rival "no it's becky."
Provided Elan Gale's self-help book isn't a hoax, it's sure to be a wild ride. Pick up You're Not That Great (But Neither Is Anyone Else) from your favorite bookstore in December 2017.
