Tobey Maguire & Jennifer Meyer Separate

Sad news out of Hollywood on Tuesday: Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer are separating after nine years of marriage. In a joint statement to People, the rather private couple (who are the proud parents of 9-year-old Ruby and 7-year-old Otis), announced their decision to separate.

"After much soul searching and consideration we have made the decision to separate as a couple," they shared with the site. "As devoted parents, our first priority remains raising our children together with enduring love, respect and friendship."

The news of their split comes as a shock. Maguire and Meyer have been together since 2003 — 13 years together in Hollywood, more than a decade, is certainly a very long time. They made things official when they tied the knot in a Hawaiian ceremony in 2007.

But throughout their years together (and several Spider-Man sequels), Maguire was perhaps the more well-known of the two, being the bonafide ~movie star~ and all. However, Meyer is far more than just the label of "Tobey Maguire's wife": She is an incredibly successful jewelry designer, someone who is famous in her own right, and has plenty of celeb friends and clients all on her own. To put it all in perspective, Meyer designed Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux's wedding rings. Just to show you how close she is to Aniston and also how coveted her design expertise is.

But in addition to having an insanely successful ~haute couture~ line of jewelry and casually being besties with A-listers, she's also just a "regular mom" (and not in the Regina George's mom kinda way). Like, she's actually legit cool and funny:
