There may be a big breakthrough in Kim Kardashian's recent robbery. As a recap, Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint by two men posing as police officers last week. At the time, her rep said she was "badly shaken but physically unharmed." Now, People is reporting that French police discovered DNA in Kardashian's hotel room that may lead them to identifying the attackers. They also reported that the DNA is currently "in the process of being exploited" by forensic experts. Bustle reached out to Kardashian's rep for comment, but has not heard back at this time. Still, if this update is true, this could really help the investigation.
Earlier in the week, TMZ reported that a passerby found Kardashian's cross necklace on the sidewalk near her hotel. It was believed that this could contain traces of DNA belonging to the attackers. However, this latest report found that the necklace may not be as big of a clue after all. The Agence France Presse reported that the necklace "has not yielded any usable DNA samples." The AFP also reported that French prosecutors have opened a formal investigation. Bustle previously reached out to the Paris Police Prefecture regarding the robbery news and they provided the following statement:
We are not able to respond to your request because a judicial inquiry is opened only the Paris Prosecutor's office which can communicate to the press and the public and to not interfere with ongoing investigations.
In the week following the attack, Kardashian has continued to remain silent on social media. Meanwhile, her family members — including Kris Jenner, Caitlyn Jenner, and Kourtney Kardashian — have either commented on the situation directly or alluded to the incident. Plus, on Tuesday, Khloé Kardashian gave an update during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Speaking of her big sister, Khloé said,
"I mean, she’s not doing that well. I mean, it’s incredibly traumatic what happened to her, but our family is super close and great and we’ll get through it together. And we do appreciate all of your guys' love and support and it will take time. You know, it was horrible what happened to her."
At least it's comforting to know the family is there for Kardashian to lean on. And if the DNA evidence does provide any intel, this will hopefully help her find the closure and justice she deserves.
