Star City is known to be a magnet for villains and Arrow Season 5 is only helping to prove that point by introducing not one, but two brand new Big Bads during last Wednesday night's premiere. I'm referring, of course, to Prometheus and Tobias Church, the latter of which is played by Chad L. Coleman, who recently spoke with Bustle about his formidable character as well as the trajectory of his Season 5 story arc. And considering things with Oliver got off to a rocky start, the actor promises that the tension between these two characters will only continue to get more and more volatile as the weeks progress, which could end up leading to a dangerous alliance.
"It's a high octane, combustable relationship," Coleman states in regards to Oliver and Church. "I'm determined to knock him off the throne by any means necessary." But he may end up needing more than just his henchmen to get the job done. That's why it seems very possible that Church will end up teaming up with Arrow 's other big bad villain, Prometheus, who was shown in the final few minutes of the Season 5 premiere. After all, it's like the saying goes: two heads are better than one, right?
"Yeah, I'm going to encounter Prometheus for sure," Coleman teases. And while he couldn't go into much detail about what that interaction may include, he wanted to assure fans that "it's better than exciting." So you can expect these two to cross paths sometime in the very near future. And given that they have a mutual enemy (aka the Green Arrow), I have a feeling this could be the start of a very dangerous friendship.
Either way, though, Coleman is looking forward to viewers seeing the full extent of his character in action. "It's a hell of a rollercoaster ride, for sure," he promises. "You're going to enjoy the maniacal nature of this man... he's not taking no for an answer and he's not going to be Vice President. He's going to be President." Let's just hope Star City is ready for him.
