Are you ready to celebrate Difficult Women? The short-story collection comes out early next year, and author Roxane Gay's book tour shirt is a feminist fist-pump you won't want to pass up. It's available for purchase today, with proceeds going to benefit literary non-profits.
This summer, Gay announced the delay of her memoir, Hunger, which she called "scary and stressful to write," telling her followers on Twitter that it would be released sometime after Difficult Women. Hunger is currently slated for release on June 13, 2017.
The delay of her memoir didn't mean Gay had nothing going on. Quite the opposite, in fact. In March, Gay signed a deal to co-write a screenplay based on her 2014 novel, An Untamed State, with director Gina Prince-Blythewood. Her Black Panther spin-off comic, World of Wakanda , is slated for release this November. As I said back in January, I'm pretty sure Roxane Gay is Wonder Woman.
The Difficult Women book tour kicks off on Jan. 10 in Washington, D.C., and will make 17 stops in 15 cities around the country, including Boston, Denver, and Seattle. In February, Mount Holyoke College will host Roxane Gay: Flashpoint! , a two-day event, which will feature a public lecture and student leadership workshop. The book tour will conclude on Mar. 23 in Baltimore, with stops at the Association of College & Research Libraries Conference and the Enoch Pratt Free Library.
If the tour isn't stopping near you, don't worry. You can get Roxane Gay's book tour shirt without attending a Difficult Women event. The 100 percent cotton tee is available today, in sizes S to 5X, from The Tuesday Agency Store for $25.
Difficult Women is available for pre-order now. Pick it up from your favorite retailer on Jan. 3.
