A First Look At The 'Doctor Who' Christmas Special

by Kelly Schremph

The holiday season may still feel like lightyears away, but that didn't stop BBC America from unleashing a first look for the Doctor Who Christmas Special on fans at New York Comic-Con titled "The Return of Doctor Mysterio." As you would expect, the clip is full of chaotic moments (in true Doctor fashion) and highlights some fun new characters, including an actual superhero, Grant, played by Orphan Black alum, Justin Chatwin. Unfortunately, Doctor Who's new companion, Bill (played by Pearl Mackie) is nowhere to be found and won't make her debut until the show returns for its tenth season in the spring of 2017, but don't let that dissuade you from tuning in for this holly, jolly special because it looks jam-packed with wibbily wobbly, time wimey goodness nevertheless.

So if you're looking to scratch your Doctor Who itch, this will do a great job of satisfying that particular thirst. Granted, it's hard to say what exactly is going on throughout the majority of the clip other than the usual chaos we've come to know and love. But as per usual, the Doctor is going to have his work cut out for him this holiday season, which fans wouldn't have any other way. So feast your eyes on the official first look below and get psyched for a special episode that's bound to keep you merry all year round.

The panel also unveiled a photo of Chatwin's character in his full superhero gear...

So prepare your Christmas plans accordingly, everyone. This Time Lord's latest adventure is a must-see event. (You can always bond with your family next year.)
