In some surprising and unexpected news, while appearing on Today Thursday, Ashton Kutcher revealed he and Mila Kunis are having a boy. After being asked if their daughter, Wyatt, is excited to become a big sister, Kutcher replied, "She points to Mila and she’s like, 'baby brother' when she points to the belly and then she points to dad and she goes, 'Beer,' so I think she gets there’s something in the belly, but I don’t quite think that she knows that it’s not going to be a plastic doll yet." Can you believe he even said the words "baby brother"? It's something I certainly didn't expect.
First, congrats to the happy couple! It's exciting they will soon be parents to a son. But what makes his announcement so shocking is that he and Kunis are one of the most private celebrity couples in Hollywood. So what possessed the former That '70s Show actor to reveal such a detail that fans have been dying to know since it was revealed Kunis is pregnant with her second child? Maybe he didn't think anything of it and the words just escaped his mouth? Maybe it was all on accident? Maybe they weren't even trying to keep a secret, so really I'm making a big deal out of nothing?
Whatever the case, the fact that he revealed their second baby's gender is surprising. If you recall, the couple was extremely secretive when it came to their marriage. Yes, most celebrity couples try to keep their relationships and weddings private, but Kunis and Kutcher took it to a whole new level. For example, during a March 2015 appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Kunis would not give a simple "yes" or "no" as to whether or not they actually tied the knot. After Corden asked her multiple times if she was married to Kutcher, all Kunis would say was, "I don't know. Maybe." It was quite clear they were, especially based on the rock she was wearing on her ring finger.
Then, there was that the time Kutcher said hiding their wedding day was a "ninja effort." After keeping details to themselves, the actor opened up on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in March 2015 and said, "It was a ninja effort. We really didn't want helicopters at our wedding and it's a legitimate concern." He added, "I was, like, posting things on social media that were in different locations to avoid that, because we didn't want to be screaming our vows at each other and being like, 'Forever!' 'Did you say never?' We didn't want to do that thing, so we went really under the radar with it."
If that's not enough, they are also private when it comes to Wyatt — and rightfully so. They don't want photos of her being shared or taken without their permission, which no one should argue with. They are being protective and want to keep Wyatt safe. I'm sure Kutcher and Kunis will feel the same way when their son arrives.
So seeing as they are usually mum about their personal life and daughter, it's definitely surprising to hear Kutcher be so open about their second child being a boy.
