Kim Kardashian Thieves Caught On Camera — REPORT

by Allyson Koerner

The investigation into the armed robbery of Kim Kardashian in Paris, France continues, and according to a Wednesday report from The Sun, there's a chance Kim Kardashian's robbery was caught on camera. Allegedly, French authorities seized footage Tuesday from two CCTVs (closed-circuit televisions, aka video surveillance) at a the Bel Ange nail salon, which is near Kardashian's apartment, where she was staying at the time she was robbed. Per The Sun, "a mezzanine-level camera inside the store was facing a large mirror outside which perfectly reflected the gang as they walked into the small retail and restaurant area to make their getaway." Update: According to a Thursday report from TMZ, Paris law enforcement sources said there is a video of the robbers fleeing the scene on bicycles, but it is not a direct shot and the faces of the thieves are blurry. Apparently, police also have one suspect in mind who may be responsible for the robbery.

Earlier: The second camera footage reportedly taken by police was located on the ground-level and recorded the thieves "fleeing via an unlocked back door into an office and retail block called the Marche De La Madeleine," which is located behind Kardashian's apartment. Reportedly, the police also seized all of the surveillance footage from every Marche De La Madeleine store just in case.

According to the report, the robbers then went down a corridor into a parking garage, where they escaped on bikes. The Sun claims that the garage security guard was asleep at the time the thieves came through and that he allegedly told law enforcement that he didn't hear or see anything. Apparently, security cameras were "facing inside the car park and not onto the street," which would mean there is zero footage of those responsible for Kardashian's robbery while on their bikes.

Police have reportedly not released any images or footage to the media, but they reportedly found cigarettes outside the parking garage and are checking them for DNA due to the possibility Kardashian's robbers had an accomplice waiting there.

Nina Richter, who's friend is the owner and manager of Bel Ange, told The Sun, "Police seized the footage on Tuesday morning, they told the owner not to speak to the media about it." She added about her friend, "She wasn’t even allowed to view it herself but they told her what was on it. They said it showed their faces." Richter also called the thieves being captured on camera a "million-to-one chance" do to the fact that the camera was facing a mirror. She added, "Police told the owner it has given them the best lead yet."

Bustle reached out to the Paris Police Prefecture for comment on this report, which responded: "We are not able to respond to your request because a judicial inquiry is opened only the Paris Prosecutor's office which can communicate to the press and the public and to not interfere with ongoing investigations."

On Tuesday, The Guardian reported that investigators are looking into CCTV footage relating to Kardashian's robbery, but it's unclear if it's the same footage detailed by The Sun. However, a Tuesday report from TMZ, claimed that police hadn't found any surveillance footage outside or inside the hotel to help with their investigation. Per TMZ, "police surveillance footage" is the only kind of video detectives have access to and the camera didn't face the front of the hotel, so the robbers were never recorded. TMZ also reported that police did search nearby businesses for video footage, but "came up dry."

The Sun's report is the only one claiming this security footage was obtained at this time, but as the investigation continues more details will surely be released and confirmed.
