If your regular coffee shop was one of the many to transform to Luke's Diner for the birthday of Gilmore Girls on Oct. 5, let's just say you're not going to be able to run in for a quick cup of caffeinated goodness. That's because early photos of Gilmore Girls ' Luke's Diner Day show that the lines have been crazy long — like Emily Gilmore might not even be able to push her way through long — to get into these pop-up shops. However, the photos shared on social media by fans also show that the wait is totally worth it. The fact that the coffee is free (supplies are limited though) doesn't even matter because the experience of getting to start your day off like Lorelai Gilmore by grabbing a cup of coffee at Luke's Diner is priceless.
The photos from these dedicated fans show that not only do these coffee shops have Luke signs, they also have Luke-themed coffee cup sleeves to keep your hands from burning and coffee-themed quotes from Lorelai on the cups. It's almost too much. Honestly, just looking at the photos from around the U.S. of this event are making me tear up because people are getting to live their Lorelai and Rory Gilmore dream. I mean, why are you even reading this article right now? Once you see these photos, you'll realize that you should have already found the Luke's Diner near you on the Town of Stars Hollow website and be waiting in line too.
While the lines are certainly a bit overwhelming — especially if you're not a morning person — take comfort in knowing what your patience will be rewarded with.
And, of course, there are the cups — with the sage advice from the one and only Lorelai Gilmore.
Is this not the most brilliant marketing strategy ever? Who even cares that Netflix is shamelessly wooing fans to watch Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life ? You were going to watch anyway and now you're getting free coffee and promises of backwards hats and flannel to boot.
If you don't live in an area where a Luke's Diner is available, my apologies. But if you do, what are you waiting for?! Where these early risers lead, you should follow.
