Which BSB Jams Will Make The Vegas Residency?
It's time to brush up on your “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” choreo, because Nick Carter, Brian Littrell, Kevin Richardson, AJ McLean, and Howie Dorough are ready and raring to rock Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino’s body right. On Friday, the Backstreet Boys announced that their 18-date residency at The AXIS will begin on March 1, 2017. You hear that, fellow fans of the iconic pop quintet? That means we only have five-ish months to speculate on which songs will be on the BSB Vegas residency setlist. Better get to it, eh?
Here's the thing: Unless they want to troll the heck out of every last one of us, the Backstreet Boys will play the hits. I mean, hi, it's a show on The Strip; a Vegas residency that isn't teeming with colossal jams is no Vegas residency of mine. Sure, they might weave a few non-singles into the mix for the diehard fans, but for the most part, it'll probably be a nonstop hit fest.
...And yes, as a matter of fact I have already decided which songs I hope make the lineup. Some of my picks are beyond obvious (*tips white fedora at “I Want It That Way”*), some are deep cuts, and every last one is as perfect as the music video for "The Call" (i.e., the most perfect).
1. “Larger Than Life”
Calling it now: If they don’t open the Larger Than Life residency with “Larger Than Life”…
2. “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)”
…Then they will kick the show off with “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back).”
3. “I Want It That Way”
Uh, duh. If this one doesn't happen, it'd be the biggest troll move ever.
4. “As Long As You Love Me”
Is this one a no-brainer? Probably. Does that make the song any less important? Nope.
5. “The Shape Of My Heart”
True story: my heart is shaped like "The Shape Of My Heart."
6. “Get Another Boyfriend”
If they played this, I’d probably fall over due to happiness overload.
7. “Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely”
This sweeping ballad is too good to not include.
8. “It’s Gotta Be You”
Thanks to that robotic spoken intro, the wildly catchy chorus, and that rousing round of hoots, this non-single off of Millennium is a must.
9. “I’ll Never Break Your Heart”
OK, here’s a nutty idea: What if they mash up “I’ll Never Break Your Heart”…
10. “Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)”
…with “Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)” and call it “The Heartbroken Games Remix"? I could be into it.
11. “Show ‘Em (What You’re Made Of)”
Oh, that reminds me: It’s time to watch Backstreet Boys: Show ‘Em What Your Made Of for a 70th time.
12. “The Call”
It’s destin-ay.
13. “We’ve Got It Goin’ On”
21 years later, and their debut single still sends the crazy wildin’ static.
14. “Incomplete”
If they do sing this one, I hope they do it while standing in a giant sandbox. Because without some dramatic sand kneeling, this song is *takes deep breath* *cracks knuckles* incomplete.
15. “The One”
The more Millennium, the merrier.
16. “Don’t Want You Back”
Honestly, they could just play Millennium start to finish and I would not be upset.
17. “Don’t Turn Out The Lights”
If they play any NKOTBSB jams, it better be this one.
*Tips white fedora at all 17 songs.* Hope to hear every last one of you beautiful tunes in Vegas.
