'Glee Project' Cancellation Leaves Us Feeling Weird

by Kate Ward

Just days after news hit that Cory Monteith had died in Vancouver at 31 years old, Oxygen curiously announced that the franchise will see another loss — the network confirmed that The Glee Project has been canceled after two seasons.

The reality series — in which young actors and musicians vied for a role on Fox's hit series — was canceled after Fox's late renewal of Glee left Oxygen too little time to turn around another season of The Glee Project. The network has insisted that Glee Project's cancelation is not at all related to Monteith's death.

Still, the timing is odd — dealing Glee fans another blow while they're in mourning is cruel enough. But reminding us that Glee, at its core, is a business, and not a series with a sense of community strong enough to kick off an impromptu memorial, is disappointing. We didn't want to stop believin' otherwise, Glee.
