Remember those amazing-looking chocolate chip cookie milk shot glasses the man behind the Cronut, AKA Dominique Ansel, brought to SXSW? Remember how sad I was that I was not able to consume such a wondrous invention? Well, now I don’t have to be sad anymore — and neither do you, dear reader. Because a magnificent human being just posted a step-by-step recipe on Instructables that will help you make your very own chocolate chip cookie shot glasses, right in the comfort of your own home. Karin Lee? You are a genius!
Lee’s instructions start by adding some extra flour to her favorite chocolate chip cookie recipes and beating the dough a little longer than necessary. This makes the dough easier to roll out and manipulate into the shape you want. A second dough tweak involves using mini chocolate chips rather than full-sized ones, so as to prevent weird holes from appearing in the dough when you flatten it out.
The real magic, however, happens when the time comes to mold the dough into the shape of a shot glass. Lee tried a couple of different methods, the most effective of which involves wrapping wine corks in aluminum foil, forming the dough around the foil-wrapped corks, and sticking the whole thing into a popover pan.
After letting the cookie shot glasses cool a bit, Lee and her pals tested them out with what looks like Bailey’s. As you can see, there’s a little bit of seepage ± but if you shove that thing in your mouth fast enough, it’s totally not a problem. Yum!
Here's the complete set of instructions. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a rather pressing matter to attend to in my kitchen…
