The Brangelina Divorce Memes Have Started

by Lindsay Denninger

Well, true love is over, people — according to a report from TMZ, Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from Brad Pitt after two years of marriage and over a decade together. (Bustle has reached out to Jolie and Pitt's representatives for comment on the report and has not yet received a response.) Of course, the Internet is exploding with opinions, much like it has over, oh, everything that Pitt and Jolie have ever done, but it’s definitely at a fever pitch with this news. There are so many memes and tweets about the Brangelina divorce report, and unsurprisingly, most of them include Jennifer Aniston.

Update: Jolie's lawyer has confirmed that she did in fact file for divorce from Pitt in a statement to Reuters: "This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time," said Robert Offer, according to the newswire.

Pitt also confirmed his divorce from Jolie in a statement to PEOPLE, saying, "I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids... I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time."

If you remember, Pitt and Jolie met on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith while Pitt was married to Aniston. I’m thankful that the Brad and Jenn split that followed happened before Twitter was a thing, because it was a tabloid nightmare. Now with this Brangelina divorce report, it's a Twitter nightmare, because people just can’t get enough of this story. I get the penchant for wanting to speculate about relationships, but Aniston, Pitt, and Jolie are all real people with real feelings who deserve respect. Besides, Aniston really has nothing to do with this situation — she and Pitt divorced over 10 years ago. Alas, everyone on the internet was just itching to talk about the Brangelina divorce and drag Aniston into it, as these tweets and memes show.

There's a lot of Jennifer Aniston talk...

And some crying about love being dead.

There's also plenty of panic..

And a few folks that aren't that surprised.

The public outcry seems to be supporting Aniston in this situation (still), but I have a feeling she just wants to be removed from this narrative. She's moved on, and she is just trying to live her life. Instead of freaking out about how Aniston feels about all of this, let's focus on hoping that Pitt, Jolie, and their six children end up happy and healthy after this is all over.
