It's hard to say goodbye to canceled TV shows — and The CW's Beauty & The Beast airs its final episode of the series on Thursday night. The fourth season of the drama is the last, determined by the network last year, as reported by Deadline. While the show won't return, you can try to fill the void in your TV viewing schedule with these similar dramas to Beauty & The Beast currently on the air. Luckily, there never seems to be a shortage of crime dramas and hopefully these will soften the blow for fans in a post-Beauty & The Beast world.
The CW series wasn't based on the Disney musical and the children's fairytale like the title may imply — the crime drama draws inspiration from the 1987 CBS series of the same name created by Ron Koslow, which also followed the journey of a beast-like creature named Vincent (played by Jay Ryan in the modern series) and a law enforcer named Catherine (Kristin Kreuk). The '80s Beauty & The Beast lasted for three seasons on the Eye Network, one less than the CW is giving the current version. At least the CW was able to give fans ample notice of the series' cancellation — it was announced earlier this year.
So if you're feeling that Beauty & The Beast withdrawal, check out these gritty dramas that have crime, mysteries, and even a bit of romance.

Top Of The Lake
In this acclaimed series, Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss stars as a detective who investigates the disappearance and pregnancy of a 12-year-old girl in New Zealand.
Rectify
Nearly 20 years after he was convicted of rape and murder, Daniel Holden (Aden Young) gets released from prison due to some DNA revelations and the series follows his family's reaction to that, as well as his readjustment to society.
Gotham
This Batman prequel series stars Ben McKenzie as Det. Jim Gordon, who investigates future caped crusader villains — and yup, a young Bruce Wayne is there, too.
True Detective (Season 1)
Get your crime and sci-fi fix in this engrossing first chapter of the hit HBO series, which starred Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.
Chicago P.D. & Chicago Justice
Dick Wolf's Chicago empire is expanding with Chicago Justice, premiering this fall. If you feel like watching prosecutors, this one's your show. If you're in the mood for more of a cop drama, Chicago P.D. will do the trick, now in its fourth season.
So while fans have to bid adieu to Beauty & The Beast, there are many other shows that can help fill the void that Vincent and Catherine will leave.
